ASSISTEENS®
What is Assisteens?

We are a dynamic group of teenagers in an all-volunteer organization who assist individuals and families in Santa Clara County through our community service projects.

The organization consists of approximately 25 girls who attend Los Altos High School, Mt. View High School, Gunn High School, Woodside Priory, Pinewood, Saint Francis, Saint Nicholas, Blach Jr. High and Egan Jr. High.

Our regular meetings are on the first Sunday of each month September through May from 2 to 4. Meetings are held in the Chapter House at the Costume Bank in downtown Los Altos.

Assisteens service projects have included assembling “We Care” toiletry bags for the Mountain View Community services, assisting the ladies of the Assistance League of Los Altos by staffing at the Costume Bank and stuffing and donating over 150 Christmas stockings for community service agencies. Each year the Assisteens also put on a fabulous fashion show for a local retirement center or nursing home. The teens model vintage fashions from the 1800’s through the present for the enjoyment of the residents. Our main project is supporting the patients and their caregivers who temporarily reside in the apartments at H.O.M.E. (House of Medical Emergencies) at Stanford University Medical Center. Here, the Assisteens provide holiday and seasonal decorations and goodies and play Bingo once a month with the residents. It is very rewarding to receive the heartfelt thanks from the patients and caregivers.

Assisteens raise money for their projects through various fundraisers. This past year the Assisteens held a successful Jewelry Extravaganza to raise funds.
